| Questions: Do I Have A Case for an Illegal search? I live in Omaha Nebraska, I am driving down the street and I did not see a cop car or anything around me. However, when I parked my car in a parking lot and got out of my car, I stood at the door looking at a text message and then went to shut the door from the handle side. The officers were driving by and they saw me standing there, so they turned on their lights and yelled for me to get back in the car. I said right away why? note I was very irritated, so I expressed that I had been on my feet for 12 hours and I'd like to know why... So the officer tells me not to worry about it and get back in the car. I start to get back in the car. As I am sitting down they ask for my information they stated that they had stopped me for having temporary plates on my car... However, mine came from the dealership and they were printed. Now, at this point I asked the officer if it was legal even to stop me on private property with my ingnition off? The officer proceeds to tell me that they are the police and they can do whatever they want. So he says you know what? Your being a pain and cuffs me and puts me in the back of the cop car. His partner is already searching my car opening the glove department, and my bookbag only to find paperwork. I sat in the back of that car as they searched my car for nothing and I don't have a record so they didn't have much to look for. And I didn't have any weed smell, any glazed eyes, or anything. I didn't even commit a traffic violation? They didn't find anything so they uncuffed me and let me go. I got their info and filled a report. But can I sue them this seemed like something racial... |

Welcome to Police State USA. Do you carry a copy of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights with you? Have you studied it? I mean for real not a superficial look at school. If you answered NO to any of that then you are the problem! |
| As an authority, I think they just did their job. At first, they have the right to let you return to your car. They simply want to have safety in dealing with the situation. It sounds like a legal search so there's no need to sue them at all. With regard to the temporary plates on your car, you better process it to avoid future issue with the police. |

we learned something much different. You should hold the police to much higher standards of Constitutional law. You should hold them to the exact letter of the Constitution! |
| Hi there! I am really into knowing a lot about your problem. It is natural; if other people in authority mess up on you. If you doing right, I think you should be alarmed. I really don't trust people in authority because of the bad news where they are involve generally. I hope I can help you. Thank You so much. And have a great day to all of you guys. |
| Well, I guess the authority is just doing their job. But if you think that they did it differently, you should consult an expert regarding this matter. An expert can answer all your confusions in mind. At times, there are people in the authority that uses their power to abuse people. If that's the case, the people involved should be punished. On the other hand, there are times that the people just misunderstood those in the authority. But it is better to be careful and alert at all times. |
